Heavy-Duty Precision

Valve Actuation

Valve Actuation

Valve actuators need high torque from a compact drive at a controlled speed. GH Series gearheads and RV-N gears multiply motor torque in a small package.

  • Valve opening and closing at controlled speed
  • Backlash less than 1 arc-min on RV-N models
  • Motor fittings for major servo motor brands
Heavy Equipment

Heavy Equipment

Rotating equipment sees shock loads, high moments and long hours. Cycloidal RV gears share the load across many teeth and carry it on integrated bearings.

  • Lifting shafts and traveling axes
  • E-stop capacity of 5x rated torque
  • Supports external loads without extra bearings
Shock Loads

Shock Loads

Sticking valves, starts under load and emergency stops send torque spikes through the drive. The two-stage cycloidal design of RV-N and RV-E gears keeps many teeth in contact at once, which gives them high shock-load capability.

RV gears offer an E-stop capacity of 5x rated torque, so size for the peak load as well as the running torque.

Load Support

Load Support

Heavy equipment often puts large external loads and moments on the gear output. RV gears use large integrated angular ball bearings that carry radial, axial and moment loads, so the gear can act as the support bearing for the axis.

Fewer separate bearings mean a simpler drive design, fewer parts to align and less assembly work.

Easy Mounting

Easy Mounting

GH Series gearheads arrive with motor fittings for major servo motor brands, sealed with grease before shipping. GH-P and GH-S are built for high-speed rotation on traveling and lifting shafts, and GH-S adds a right-angle input.

Motor coupling parts are included, which cuts design and assembly time on your side of the project.

Cable Routing

Cable Routing

Rotating equipment often needs cables or piping to cross the axis of rotation. The RV-C Series keeps the accuracy, rigidity, torque and load support of the RV design and adds a hollow shaft so these lines can pass through the center.

Routing lines through the gear keeps them away from moving parts and simplifies the equipment layout.

Selection Guide

Oil and gas equipment combines high torque, shock loads and tough operating conditions. Work through these points with your load and duty cycle data before you size a gear. Your answers narrow the catalog to a short list of models to compare.
  • Start from torque and speed
List running, peak and emergency stop torque with the output speed.
Our engineers use this data to check the expected service life.
  • Check external loads on the output
Note radial, axial and moment loads and where they act on the output.
Integrated main bearings can carry them without separate supports.
  • Choose a component or gearhead
Component RV gears build into your own housing for a compact axis.
GH and RD2 gearheads bolt to the motor and ship sealed with grease.
  • Describe operating conditions
Share the temperature range, dust, moisture and outdoor exposure.
These details guide the sealing and lubricant choices for the gear.
  • Plan lubrication and maintenance
Decide how the gear will be lubricated and serviced over its life.
Our range includes RV Grease LB00 and RV Oil SB150 for RV gears.
